Paying homage to the local farm workers, Brian Talley of Talley Vineyards and Farms and his family created a cookbook called “Our California Table: Celebrating the Seasons with the Talley Family”. Since the mid-90’s Talley has kept a journal of his favorite dishes and drinks from the wine grapes and vegetables the family has grown and this unique endeavor shares three generations of family recipes, stories, and savory photographs.
Family favorites include classics such as Grandma’s Apple Pie, Meyer Lemon Cake, and Santa Maria-style BBQ to unusual creations like avocado ice cream. Brian Talley provides clear instructions for how to make each dish as well as a recommendation of the perfect wine to pair it with.
Proceeds of “Our California Table” will go towards the Fund for Vineyard and Farm Workers, an initiative to help local agricultural workers and their families. The Talley family cookbook is for sale at Talley Vineyards for $35 and has although it was just recently released, it has already gained 5-star reviews.
