Celebrating Earth Day is a big deal in SLO since the Central Coast’s wine country is so dependent on Mother Nature to help create the region’s unique wine offerings. To celebrate Earth Day in style, Niner wine estates are hosting a special dinner crafted from all local ingredients and even the farmers themselves will be in attendance. The evening will start with sipping wines and mingling with purveyors from Kandarian Farms, South Bay Wild, Windrose Farms, Manzanita Organic Farms, Matthew’s Honey, and SLO Natural Foods followed by a full-course meal.
Niner’s Earth Day menu starts out with a fennel salad mixed with chia seed blood orange white butter buerre blanc paired with Niner’s 2015 albarino, followed by lamb lollipops and then a Coulotte steak entrée with crab-stuffed squash blossom, black lentils and nasturtiums (paired with the 2013 Fog Catcher). For dessert, guests will enjoy a walnut honey pie and a Manzanita Organics’ Jutta dessert wine. Tickets for this event are $150 per person and the dinner takes place from 6-8pm.
